In my opinion, one of the greatest games ever made. Anyone else think so?

Heck, long ago I mostly gave up on trying to label things like, "greatest game ever". It's far too complicated a feat. :)

After all, what makes a game, "the greatest ever"?
Is it immersion? Even within the Elder Scrolls titles, Skyrim doesn't particularly stand out. And heck, compared to Ultima, it would lose. (Sure, Skyrim lets you pick wheat. But Ultima 7 let you harvest wheat with a scythe, bring it to a mill, grind it into flour, take it to a bakery, turn it into dough, and then cook that dough into bread. No real reason; just in case you wanted to.)

Is it playtime? I've played Super Smash Bros: Brawl far longer than I've played Skyrim. And I suspect that most online games would cream Skyrim in this department.

Is it the "fun factor"? Taking down your first dragon is fun. Heck, even after you've taken down several, when they start chanting, "Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin," it's still fun (no, I wasn't going to bother looking up the rest of the lyrics just to make a point). However, how much "fun" is it to have to constantly slog back home to sell off crap because you're overburdened again? Or when your companion accidentally kills your horse? (And this is ignoring the monumental number of bugs that plague the game, large and small) And, even though it's neat, is it really "fun" to smith equipment to sell for profit? Or to sit there and watch your character chop wood? Really? Virtual chores? Wasn't that a joke on the Simpsons? Compare that to, heck, even plenty of mobile games, that may have very shallow gameplay, but are at least always fun when you're playing them.

Is it the challenge? Challenge pretty much stopped existing when they came up with the ability to save whenever you want (not to mention multiple save points). Even besides that, the difficulty's kinda wonky either way. Sometimes you're fighting bandits that, for inexplicable reasons, are juggernauts, and then you're attacked by a (normal) dragon who gets the smackdown before they even get into the music. Heck, if you accidentally anger a guard in some towns, you'll see that they keeps have some serious armies to be reckoned with, which simply begs the question of why the heck they need some Dragonborn to take out the winged menace. (When your entire army is comprised of Judge Dredds, you really don't need an extra Rambo)

Heh. That sounds kinda anti-Skyrim, doesn't it? Far from it. I'm rather enjoying the game. Just thought I'd look at the idea of "best game ever", rather than "is Skyrim epic?". :D
