I'd like to start the official ClickShake cool movies thread. Update this thread with any cool movies you've seen recently, would like to see, favorite movies you want to revive from days past, or movies that sucked so bad it left a permanent scar on your brain.

Pandorum was pretty cool. I LOVE The Prestige and Batman Begins. Inception looks cool. I wonder if it is a remake of Dark City (looks very similar, also a pretty neat movie, though not new. Don't spoil for me if it is a remake or not!). Anyone seen the Prince of Persia movie? I haven't yet but definitely plan to. I hope they make an Assassin's Creed movie!

Have you seen District B13? That movie is amazing! I'm a bit biased, since I'm into parkour and the discipline's creator is star of the movie. It's a French action movie with subtitles, but it's great.

You should watch Equilibrium too. I never saw any advertisements for it, but it's super awesome, starring Christian Bale and featuring gunkata, a firearm martial art which rocks my socks off.

I don't really watch movies I just read everything about them.

Inception sounds good and one of the few movies that require thinking.

Kung fu hustle was the best fighting movie I ever saw (trailers).

Game movies usually suck except for hitman that pulled out decent-average movie out of it.

Wall-e was pretty good and one of the few movies I saw.

Avatar's plot is unoriginal and the movie is overhyped.

Shrek died inside during the 3rd one.

Splice turned out to be a pretty bad movie.

Cube had an intresting intellectual feel to it.

A Space Odyssey was awesome sauce

The first two aliens were also awesome sauce.

I have seen prince of persia.
I liked the movie. The story was trully great and the battles were nice also.
The only thing I missed was a giant end battle between the prince and the leader of the bad guys. there was a battle but not so great as I hoped.

i saw toy story 3 some parts were sad mostly the ending hope they make a toy story 4

  5. ethanrule3 says:

I think they ended it so there never will be a sequel. They tied up all the loose ends, we're not left thinking "Oh, he's still out there hunting them down" or anything.

    Sorry to dissapoint you.

If you haven't seen it go watch City Of God. It has subtitles but don't let that put you off. It is set in a brazilian slum and is really about the life of a group of kids and what they go through growing up. It is probably the best movie I ever seen.

Also, if you can, watch Trainspotting and you will get an idea what growing up in Scotland is like. Can't emphasise how good a film this is but you may have trouble understanding it, because of the Scottish accent. (Actually, this should have subtitles too lol)

I love all the Saw movies too.

I should point out that these are all 18+ movies and rightly so, so don't watch if easily offended or disturbed.

  7. themanofdoom says:

inception is a great movie makes you think though

  8. Earl says:

Steve, I thought the remake of Dark City was The Matrix? :D

My favourite movie is Army of Darkness. I still maintain that, objectively speaking, it's the greatest movie ever made.
The movie I didn't expect to like but then absolutely loved was the Dark Knight. When everyone was going ga-ga over Heath Ledger's performance, and talking about Oscars, I figured it was just because he had just died. Don't get me wrong, that was really sad, but in general I don't like the idea of inflating someone's accomplishments just because they died. And then I saw the movie. And. uh. yeah. didn't complain about people raving about his performance. :)

The worst movie ever made was Troll 2.
I'd never suggest anyone actually watch that piece of crap, but do a youtube search for it, and you'll see several excerpts (chosen to illustrate how great the 'acting' is. or, uh, isn't).

Some videogame movies can be good. Particularly if you know how to enjoy them. Mortal Kombat was good (even though the sequel was awful). Street Fighter was an amazing movie if you don't go into it expecting it to be "good". Enjoy it for what it is, and it's pure entertainment.

  9. darkbluemullet says:

OH OH, I just remembered an absolutely amazing movie. It's called The Game. If I remember right, Michael Douglas is the main character. It is the ultimate edge of the seat movie. Has so many twists and turns and keeps you thinking through the whole movie. I HIGHLY recommend this move.

........................ Earl......... Street Fighter............seriously? As in Kylie Minogue and Van Damme????

Are there any fans of "The Goon" comic book series out there? I'm super pumped about the new 3D animated movie they're making of it. David Fincher is producing it and from the looks of the trailer they nailed the feel of the books perfectly.

The comic is super weird and dark, I highly recommend it.

  11. SteveCastro says:

I enjoyed Avatar, even if the plot has been done before.

It's amazing how high of a score Toy Story 3 earned from rottentomatoes.com. 99%! Pixar really knows what they're doing. Haven't seen it yet though. I'm not huge into computer animated movies. I usually like them when I watch them but it's not my first choice to go see usually.

I liked the first Saw, but the rest of them have been pretty gratuitous and not really as clever so I haven't been watching the last few.

Earl, I really liked Mortal Kombat too. I think I liked Street Fighter as well but I don't really remember it b/c I was more of an MK fan. Dark Knight might have been too dark for me, but I watched it when I was really tired so I'd like to give it another chance soon.

Army of Darkness, ha! My friend made me watch those. I should make my wife watch those so I can do my part to continue the cycle and get the full experience of passing on AoD.
Oh, remember the Final Fantasy movie? One of the first movies to try to make super realistic computer animated humans all the way through? I was so excited to see it, but it turned out to be pretty boring, dull and nothing like my experience with the video games.

I saw Matrix before I saw Dark City. I see how they're similar, with the mind control and all, but they're very different to me. In Dark City, they were actually seeing the real reality, whereas Matrix the entire reality was an illusion. Either way it's a pretty messed up world to live in. :)

On that note, would you be alright to accept the illusion if you knew it was one, but felt exactly as real as it does for you now?

  12. Earl says:

Heh. Good question. To be honest, assuming it wasn't accompanied by the reduced lifespan that a completely sendentary lifestyle would normally cause, I'd actually have no problem whatsoever living in the illusion. :)

And actually... I was super-excited when I heard they were making a Final Fantasy movie, but lost interest before I even saw it. Riiight about when I found out it didn't even have magic or summons. I mean... what the frig?
But then, they released Advent Children. And though AC wouldn't be of any interest to a person who hadn't played FF7, for those who loved it... oh man... so good.
(My favourite scene in the movie is still the fight with Tifa in the chapel)

  13. Scoat says:

I actually liked the Final Fantasy movie, (the one that was nothing like the games) I thought it was a good movie in its own right, but I was very young when I watched it on the good ol' VHS. Some good movies I would recommend that get you thinking or are just plain awesome are Fight Club, Memento, Trainspotting, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, American Beauty, American Psycho, Requiem for a Dream, The Godfather I & II, GoodFellas, L.A. Confidential, Se7en, The Usual Suspects, 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.

A long list, I have a few more favourites but they have slipped my mind for the time being, but these are all very good movies, most of them will get you thinking and throw lots of twists and turns at you, and a lot are 18+ so be aware of that, but if you ever have the chance to watch them I highly recommend it!

  14. JayZiebarth says:

Just saw "Inception". Totally loved it. One of those movies that inspires great discussion afterward.

  15. terrifrancona says:

Darkblue: Have you seen the city of men t.v show and movie? They're both sequels to City of God...which I haven't seen yet.

The BBC mini-series Little Dorrit (based on the Dickens novel) is awesome.

  16. themanofdoom says:

    Anyone seen Fallen? Cool movie

  17. Darkroot says:

Equilibriums ending is anti-climatic. Like I expect a more interesting fight and wouldn't more clerics and better trained clerics be guarding "father"?

  18. Monopoly1703 says:

Top action movies of all time are Gladiator, Braveheart, and the Bourne series. Some good fantasy\Sci-fi are the Star Wars saga(Obviously) and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Thats a crap load of good movies right there and I highly recommend them if you havent seen them!

  19. LinkandSheik says:

i liked the new indiana jones.

  20. electrokaratedoc says:

"The Big Lebowski"... greatest ever... at least, for those of you who know what true comedy is.

  21. SteveCastro says:

I really want to like the Dark Knight movie because I loved Batman Begins so much, but it was just too dark for me. I prefer Joker as a comically insane character more than a seriously screwed up dude.

I agree that Equilibrium's ending could have been more epic, but I liked it anyway.

Oh ya, I'm a huge Star Wars fan too. I think it's way better than Star Trek or other "everyday life in space" series IMO.

Lord of the Rings was too long and boring for me. I feel like I should like it but it didn't click with me. Maybe I just need to take a day to sit down and have a LotR trilogy movie watching fest to see if I like it any better that way.

  22. tman140 says:

Loved lord of the rings, Labrynth on VHS was funny and dum at the same time, and so was the dark crystal. Have not been home in a while (I am in Italy baby!!!! :) so I can't run and check what newer ones I like

  23. darkbluemullet says:

Aah Labrynth and The dark Crystal basically raised me. I loved those films!

  24. SteveCastro says:

Kick Ass was a cool and funny super hero flick. Usually super heroes are way overpowered, but they kept it fairly realistic and gritty which I liked a lot.

That reminds me of Watchmen. That movie was kinda neat but overall just pretty weird. The retired hero storyline reminded me of Incredibles, which was a very good movie.

  25. darkbluemullet says:

Just watched Kick-Ass actually. Thought it was pretty good. Unexpedictdly brutal. Don't know if anyoen answered this but has anyone seen The Game? Michael Douglas is the lead. A an amazing edge of the seat movie!!!!
