I was "watching" through Twitter while playing games. Gotta say, much more inpressed with Sony that Microsoft.
I've been seeing it both live on TV and coverage online. The new LoZ game is a slight disappointment, but other than that, all the games were great. I do agree, Microsoft was lacking this year.
If anyone missed it and want to see the Call Of Duty:Black Ops in game footage head over to my site! http://www.codblackops.co.cc
LoZ looks pretty cool to me. Why is it disappointing?
I'm a fan of Assassin's Creed, but Brotherhood doesn't seem too great to me. The trailer shows them in a gang out in the open which isn't very assassin-ish. I prefer the idea of them acting mostly individually. Also, the idea of the templars being like assassins isn't my cup of tea. I see them more as ground-based knights.
I think Kinect could be really cool if it works as advertised. I'm still skeptical though.
has anyone looked at the nintendo e3 site today? the 3ds is a cool concept, but the design is lacking
DKC? On which system?
Personally, I've mostly been interested in coverage about the 3DS. (Finding out they're making a new Twisted Metal was also kinda neat, but... eh.)
I think I actually like the 'slide pad' on the 3DS. I imagine most of you are far too young to know what it's really based on, so you'll probably just think it's meant to be like the PSP's analog nub. :D
It's actually based on the NES Max. It was a controller for the original NES. Unfortunately, they didn't really have the technology to make it 'good' at the time (in other words, nice design, but it was still digital, so, blech). This time around, it should be awesome.
The resolution has me slightly concerned. I mean, 320x240? I don't expect super-high-def graphics from a handheld, but the equivalent of old standard-def TV wouldn't hurt. Heck, just try to match mid-level cellphones and I'll be happy!
I'm also (cautiously) hopeful for what they might be able to do with downloadable games this time around. I think the big problem for the DSi was the fact that it was still basically the same platform as the DS. There wasn't enough of an install base to really warrant dumping tons of cash into developing amazing downloadable games for it.
Buuut... with the 3DS being a standalone platform, that problem should effectively vanish. And it would indeed be very nice to have a sizable collection of games that you don't have to 'swap out' when you're on the go.
If they cram a Castlevania onto it, I'll buy it for sure. If they turn the Snake Eater (MGS3) demo into a real game, I'll certainly get it for that.
Actually, on the subject of Castlevania, can you imagine if they brought back the multi-directional whip from Super Castlevania 4 (as well as the swinging that came with it), and applied that to the 'slide pad'? Ooh... that'd be sweet.
again, it needs alot of improvement, but its a good concept..... like the whip idea
Don't get he wrong, I love the beetle and the whip in LoZ, I even also like the controling sequence. The reason i think it was a "disappointment" was because I was looking forward to an AMAZING graphics engine, like the last one. I still REALLY like the game though. I like that DKC has returned but I feel that it belongs on a portable system... yeah just my feeling.
I'm not going to buy it but I also like the new Kirby game.
I REALLY can't wait for:
Star Wars: the Old Republic
Star Wars: the Force Unleashed 2
inFamous 2
Fallout: New Vegas
LoZ Skyward Sword

Edit: CAN'T STESS HOW MUCH I LIKE THE WHIP!!!!
3ds looks intresting and most people say it does work. But I would say that nintendo dominated e3 this year and they didn't even show pikmin 3. Kinetic doesn't look anything as advertised and costs a ridiculous amount of money. Sony did ok with the move but they are at the point of just copying nintendo and not creating something new themselves but at least it works unlike kinetic.
Star Wars: Forces unleased 2 looks pretty good but my past experience from the first one i'm not that excited.
Skyward sword looks good and i'm happy with the new controls and the cel-shaded graphics since I loved windwaker.
Fallout:New Vegas I'm excited for it and happy it's comming out soon but they didn't update the engine or graphics much and i'm not too excited about the casions because I don't gamble at all or even play the card games but hopefully the gameplay will be as good as 2.
Portal2: Most excited for since valve dominate in the field of game quality and creativity they are the nintendo of the pc.
Deathspank: No pc news so i'm sad face.
Worms reloaded: No e3 more sad face but at least it's comming out and I can play 2d worms finally (hate 3d worms).
I liked assasins creed and am yet to play the second one but brotherhood looks more intresting I don't really mind that they arn't as assasiny as before since the new theif and hitman will fill that void. If they can make the game more intresting and improve the sword fights i'm happy.
