I don't think it will be released in 2010.
I think at the start of 2011.
Or jay must have worked secretly on it.
With the time they needed for chapter 4.
I doubt it.
But maybe they have a lot more progress then I think they have.
ps: I also hope that they don't finish it too soon.
Better a long wait and a good game then a short wait and a game that is dissapointing.
The reason for the long wait for ch. 4 is because they have been working on Ballads at the same time. Try to read some of the latest blog posts, I think they said something about how far from finishing it they are
Just lost a big juicy post, so here's a quick update.
We've been working on both games for a while and have had some finished scenes since May. The Ballads engine is greatly improved based on my experience working with Chapter 4 and development is a lot more efficient. Several puzzles are completely finished (art and animation). Several more are completely animated and I will be programming them once the dust settles on Chapter 4. There's always the 80/20 rule though which says 80% of the effort will go into the last 20% of the product, which certainly applies to game development when it comes to animating the last little bits, tweaking, polishing, testing, etc.
We've got a lot of momentum going but its also a bigger game. Our goal is to release this year and we are working diligently to meet that, so our new timeframe is late 2010.
(sorry if this has been mentioned before) Have you got the voice cast picked yet? (or any of them?)

I'm not sure if Jay has decided yet, but we probably won't be recording any voices until after the game is mostly done and the dialogue is all tweaked and finalized.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the plan to release Ballads and Chapter 4 at the same time? The page says "Chapter 4 of Several Journeys of Reemus is a seperate web game which will be released at the same time, though it is currently finished and you can play the early release right now if you pre-order Ballads." This seems to say that Ballads is nearing completion since Chapter 4 is already out, but if no audio has been recorded yet... perhaps not. I used to do a lot of audio mastering/editing stuff, so I know how tedious it can be to find exactly the right out of dozens of takes. Sometimes, none were perfect and various takes had to be spliced together... it's a pain. I'm looking forward to the release of Ballads, though I wish it was nearer to completion. =)
Oh, and SteveCastro: I have found a huge problem with Chapter 4. How can I contact you to tell you about it? Would the "Contact Us" link be sufficient, or is there a better way?

How can you play Chapter 4? There's no Ballads banner under your awesome avatar.
@Ethan is the banner something I have to set? I have paid for the preorder of Ballads, and as such have access to Chapter 4, but I didn't see an option on my Account page to set the banner. I just turned on the "show purchases on public profile" option, so we'll see if that works. Also, I haven't been approved for the Google Group yet, although I have submitted my application. I will review the current posts and submit mine if it has not already been submitted when I gain access. Thanks for your response.
Also, thanks for your comment about the avatar... I set that particular reward as my equipped item, hoping that someone would get the joke. =)
@Darkroot It's a reference to an episode of season four, called "The 30% Iron Chef." Farnsworth builds "a perfect scale model of the universe's largest bottle. [He] put a tiny spaceship inside to keep it from being boring." I know the boat isn't a spaceship, but it was the closest I could get.
I love that episode ! Dr. Zoidberg is so funny in that one "OH the guilt! The guilt!"
