Go to your account page to launch the online early release of the game. Please let us know your reviews! If you find any bugs, please email them to us via the contact form at the bottom of the page.
You can still pre-order the game through the end of 1/13/12, and after that you'll have to wait 2 weeks for the official launch to get the game!
Keep in mind that this is an early release. If you run into any issues, please be patient as we will likely get to it tomorrow morning. Hopefully everything goes smooth and swimmingly for you but if not, hang in there, tell us and get some sleep while we get everything up to full steam.
Hurray!
Its too bad I gotta go to sleep now. Ill play it as soon as Im not busy.
Am so excited to finally play Ballads!
Thanks for all you do Jay and Steve,
Toby
Beautiful game! Finished story san hour or so ago. Still figuring out 3 last achievements and 2 last bugs (to find).
I want to make games like this when I grow up! Sometimes I feel like I'm too old already, though ;-)
I love the voice of the bee guard in the Back Home scene! Hilarious!
Thanks for the return comment, Steve. I've been following for you guys for a couple of years and have been a great inspiration to me. I have a long history in Fine Art but have been obsessed with illustration, graphic novels, animation, and video games for the past two years. I want to start transforming my comics into point and click games. I barely know any programming (my strength is on the art side). I want to know what kind of software you guys use to make your games. I just discovered this free program called Adventure Game Studio (I think). The programming is most frustrating, cause I wrong character and things don't work. Any advice or suggestions for a budding game maker?
Hi guys, Enjoyed that, shorter than I expected though. I assume by the ending there will be another installment coming out... looking forward to that.
We use Adobe Flash Professional. My advise is to learn basic ActionScript programming syntax. Making games isn't an easy thing by any means, and you're right that programming is very specific and requires each keystroke to be exact.
Get Flash and find tutorial games and pick them apart. Try to understand what each part does and how it all fits together.
Is anyone else having trouble loading the game? I keep getting this message 'audio could not be loaded at this time. check your internet connection and start again.' I've tried several times, on several different browsers, and it keeps cutting out at different percentages.
@neffy Could you go here and send us the requested information?

What operating system, browser, flash version are you using?
FYI, Collector's Editions purchasers should now be able to play the early release (there was an error in the purchase checking setup previously).
Ops, looks like I missed the launch. Oh well too many classes at least I get to play it now. Thanks for all the effort you put in to make a great game (I'm assuming haven't played it yet :P).
Edit: Also you should consider putting it up on steam and getting it up into a humble bundle. The binding of Issac is a flash game that's on steam so it shouldn't be to hard to get it up there.
yess, 100% clear. I have to admit, ballads is the best indie game. The scenarios and storyline are really interesting. (but sadly I must admit it was a bit short) and I find the voices from reemus, liam, hob, leopold, fenwick, ludzo, bart, oswald, and the bedbugs well suited to them.
Shorter than expected. Is there some kind of error with the Bug Squashing count? It says the only place I haven't found all the bugs is the construction site and I have looked a dozen times and can't find any more than the ones I've already found. If it's just a secret I'll figure it out, but it appears that there might be something wrong.
the only place left for a bug is "the end" scene.
anyone know where it might be?
dear steve,
may i publish a walkthrough for the ballads of reemus and reemus chapter 4 now? or i must wait until 27 january 2012 which is the official release date.
thanks!

To neffy and others:
I just applied an update (1.02) which should hopefully help the game load during lag or on slower internet connections. Before it would timeout after 5 seconds but now it will wait for 30 seconds of no progress before it times out. Hopefully the problem for some people was just that progress stalled for a few seconds but is able to resume shortly afterward.
Note if it still fails to load sometimes, that it could be a random issue and most times retrying a little later clears the problem.
I've got a Ballads release notes page that will have all the details of any updates applied.
Hey Deimos,
As a heads up... I've had one finished for over a year now, sitting unlisted on my YouTube channel.

Yeah... for Ch4. Although I have a ballads one done as well; doesn't have any of the accumulation side quests, just the main story puzzles.
