Hi jcomp. Your post was so optimistic in January and 2020 hasn't been as positive as that for a lot of people. But I'm a forever optimist until the very end. Things are going well for me. I'm making a puzzle sports game lately, although I'm working on it back in Ohio now.

I've disabled new posts due to all the spam so I'll have to recommend messaging via Facebook for future updates. Cheers!

Howdy DBM. I'm just going through and putting some notes on pages that we will no longer be supporting the Flash version of Ballads anymore. :(

I'm doing well myself. Been working for about a year on a puzzle sports game that I hope gets released this year. It has potential to do really well. :)

How are you doing?

The demise of Flash has brought back many gaming memories, especially Reemus.

I wondered if this forum was ever looked at and how everyone was doing in 2020?

I'm a tad later than usual for my annual check-up on the state of affairs, but don't think that means I've forgotten about this thread. It's already the Roaring 20s 2.0, and I, for one, and excited about the new possibilities this decade has in store; maybe even something new around here? More important than that though, I just wanted to see how you were doing, Steve. Still out in LA working for KungFuFactory, or is there some new adventure in store for you. I know I probably could ask via social medias instead, but coming back here just seems like the rightest thing to do. Also, happy New Year, almost a month in.

I'm seeing the problem on my end too.
Something has apparently changed to Transfer-Encoding chunked, which omits Content-Length header and breaks the preloader in the Flash game.
The downloadable Windows game should still work, but for now the Flash game does not work.

I haven't been able to find a server solution just yet, so I may have to update the game file itself with different preloading logic. This will take some time to sort out.

I'm saddened to hear that about the game, but happy that you've kept busy and doing other important things. I won't tell you how to swing the major outlook of the game, I'll just say to do what makes you happy with it. Stardew Valley took, what, three-and-a-half years of development by one guy, and that seems to be doing pretty great right now. And if I can sit and wait impatiently for The Winds of Winter for this long, I think I can wait for this mystery game to come to fruition. I'll be around, and maybe I'll keep checking back every year or so to see how things are going if you don't first. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I've now moved to Los Angeles to work for Kung Fu Factory directly. We've since released Pacific Rim: Breach Wars for mobile and are working on a Walking Dead mobile game next!
That is taking up all of my focus and energy so I've put on hold all side projects for ClickShake.

jcomp, thanks for asking. Currently the mystery game is put on hold.
I've recently moved to Los Angeles to work for KungFuFactory and have decided to focus on my day job, spending time with family and friends and staying physically active.
I've deleted the Discord channel since I won't have time to keep it active.

It's sad because I've invested over $1000 and more than a year part-time into this project and even got a booth to exhibit the game at GDEX 2017, with positive reception. I really believe in it more than any other game design idea I've had in a while and would love to finish it some day.

From a design and artistic perspective, I still really believe in games that engage your mind and/or bring people together. However, it's hard for an indie game to stand out and/or make money these days compared to when we started ClickShake. There are so many great games on Steam and mobile now, and players expect more for less now. Also, I think there's less demand for local multiplayer games compared to online multiplayer or single player.

That said, this game was more about fulfilling my artistic aspirations than making money, so I've considered ways I can finish up what I've started with a more narrow scope and just release it for cheap and/or ad-supported. I'm thinking about porting it to Unity and removing the server code so it can be a stand-alone experience. I may cut out the story, player character customization and different game modes and just focus on puzzle randomization, more characters and different backgrounds.

For now, I've got my hands full with life in a new city at a new company, but it sure would be nice to put this game out into the world.

Well, it's been a year-ish since anything occurred on these forums that isn't all spambot-y (it looks as though they've started prompting each other about their services as of late, plus new things trying to play games on ludicrous platforms), but I'm still a human person and I thought maybe - just maybe - you'd still be around to reply and haven't been too discouraged by the droll they've been plastering onto ancient comments. Things seem to have gone silent on it for this year past (unless it's been mentioned in that Discord Chat I see in the "Community" tab), but I'll still ask, have there been any new developments on the intriguing detective "Mystery Game," or has it been unfortunately waylaid? I, for one, would still be interested in playing it.

Hi jcomp. The game will be for 1-4 players so you can play by yourself, but my goal is to encourage people to play together if possible.

I'm happy to have things up and running again too! I've been trying to get a new CSG project off the ground for years now so it's nice this one is actually going forward.

I will most likely implement ClickShake Rewards in this game. I'll have to make a new implementation in HTML5 since our old one is in Flash, but it should actually be easier to make this way.

I don't consider this game separate from our other games. I plan to have interesting, colorful characters and a campaign story mode and mind-engaging puzzles, so I hope it fits in with the rest of our catalog. It is a puzzle game rather than a point and click adventure game, so it's a new direction that I hope people enjoy.

We showed the game at GDEX 2017 in Columbus, Ohio and the feedback was very positive, so we're really excited about the potential for this.

I see that this was posted a month ago, but yet no one has responded directly to it; my apologies. As for my thought on the game: I'm not usually the biggest fan of multiplayer experience because it requires that I go through a lot of pre-planning and interaction with other people to play the game together - not really my cup of tea. However, I will still probably have to play this game despite that because there's a lot of heart in ClickShake games and I know I'll enjoy it. Additionally, I'm happy to see things up and running again. Keep up the good work! My biggest suggestion for the game would be to implement those ClickShake Rewards into some portion of the game; some of them look like they'll function nicely as clue of some sort. I can see where you stand if you wanted this game to be separate from the game universe, but I'm just throwing out some food for thought.

It's true. Our deal with FreshGames to work on Escape the Titanic for mobile was a learning curve for Jay and I, and at the end of that project we were not in a strong financial position. I planned to continue full time with ClickShake, but I took an opportunity to work at FreshGames directly, and from that time the site has not had much activity except for Ballads 1 releasing on Steam.

Since then I have never stopped full time game development. I've worked on several games with FreshGames, including Cubis, Escape Alcatraz, Famous Faces. I know work at Max Gaming Studios with Kung Fu Factory and Scopely on WWE: Champions, which released this year and has been very successful! It's been such a great opportunity for me to learn and grow in the games industry. (There were also some unreleased games I worked on too.) I've travelled to Boston, Seattle and Santa Monica (near Los Angeles) for my work in game development, which has been fantastic meeting people from around the country and the world.

Jay is working on new Visitor games and as mentioned Ballads of Reemus 2. He's got a new cool game studio under Zeebarf.

I still have plans for ClickShake and so I never wanted to say "goodbye" exactly. I still maintain the site and support customers of our games. Over the years I have started up a couple ClickShake projects which were cancelled, but for my next indie game I have planned and scoped it very intentionally so that it gets finished and released. For those curious about the next project, you can see my progress on it here: https://twitter.com/EntropicOrder. I'm planning to make some more announcements about this new game very soon.

So, there never really was an official "goodbye" post or anything for CSG, it just stagnated. But I had the opportunity to ask Jay about it on a recent Ballads 2 Kickstarter update (Yes, it's still happening!) and this is what he said.

"Essentially the gaming space changed on us, browser switched to mobile and we couldn't transition fast enough. I ran out of money and had to get another job. I didn't want to hamper Steve so I left Clickshake to re-evaluate my situation. Took me a few years but I'm happy I made it back!"

So it sounds like although Clickshake might be dead, Jay and Steve are still in the industry and working on games!

It's Frederic Chopin, a Polish composer and a known pianist. That photo himself is a cover of the book titled "Life of Chopin" authored by Franz Liszt. I believed that posters is already edited and reprinted with a text included. But, if that one is one of those original prints during his era, that perhaps costs much in today's value.

Most likely not, if they were to give everyone a steam code for the game who bought it, then it's like getting a second copy! I hope I have answered your question.

It's quite a tricky bug that is! Just be careful when moving the character, it takes about 2-3 seconds for the arrow to fade in.
